SART Tester STU-1

The SART Tester is designed to provide accurate, independent validation of the operation of any Radar-SART in accordance with the requirements of IMO Resolution A.802(19), SOLAS - 74/88 and local classification authorities. Measures signal level and duration, counts the number of sweeps and calculates the distance from SART across radial line on the radar screen, verifies the signal in frequency range of 9140…9560 MHz. Basing on these measurements the SART Tester allows ensuring if the SART meets the appropriate performance requirements.

The STU-1 is portable and easy in use. It is far more effective and reliable than the primitive self-test function offered by any SART.

Measurements of SART parameters are made through the broadcast. Requires PC or laptop for operation.

PC connection:

STU-1 requires PC or laptop for operation. 

The device can be connected by means of standard USB A - USB B cable included into the complete set.

The modern software is designed to make survey work easier. It is available for downloading for free, on our web-site. 

The software is compatible with Windows, MAC OS X and Linux. It provides possibility of automatic generation of IMO-reports for all types of tested equipment. Even more, now a surveyor can generate one combined report of all the safety equipment tested on a vessel.

A surveyor’s paper work can be now reduced to minimum: just generate a report, print it and sign! Or save it and send by e-mail. The test reports can be saved in doc/pdf  format, and you can put a header with the logo, contacts, etc.

Linux, OS X and Windows 10 doesn’t require any drivers installation. For Windows 7 and earlier versions the STM driver should be installed for proper connection on the first run.

SART Tester STU-1 carries out the tests in accordance with the requirement of IMO Resolution A.802(19) and SOLAS Convention 74/88.

The tester allows to perform:

  • automatic measurement of SART parameters
  • measurement of response signal duration within the range of 50…150 us
  • measurement of response signal power level within the range of Рr = 300…950mW
  • signal reception on frequency range of 9140…9560 MHz
  • counting the number of sweeps in response signal



1. STU-1 creates request pulses with parameters: 
 - Carrier frequency 9350 MHz
 - Repetition rate 4000Hz, with accuracy ±10%
 - Duration 1.4µs, with accuracy ±10%

2. The Tester allows to measure the parameters of the response signal with parameters:
 - Duration 50…150µs with accuracy ±5%
 - Power level indication 300...950 mW, with accuracy ±2.0dB

3. The current consumption of the device in measurement mode is < 350 mA.

4. Dimensions: 117 mm x 79 mm x 25 mm.

5. Weight of main unit: 105g; total weight of the complete set in the carton box: 205g.

6. Measurement of SART parameters is made through the broadcast by means of antenna.

7. According to service conditions the device is designed for operation in the internal shielded ship rooms at the temperature +5°С...+55°С, and relative air humidity of 95%.

AIS Tester

AIS Tester is a test device operating on AIS1 (ch87B), AIS2(ch88B) and DSC(ch70) frequencies. The tester is designed under corresponding standards and recommendations as a tool of operation and installation tests of AIS unit (Automatic Identification System). The tests’ volume complies with “Guidelines on annual testing of the AIS unit MSC.1/Circ.1252”.

SART Tester (discontinued)

Device is discontinued and replaced by SART Tetser STU-1. The SART Tester was designed for check of any SART in accordance with the requirements of SOLAS - 74/88, and the Russian Marine Register rules M.628-2. The SART Tester allows to measure the carrier frequency of response in range of 9140...9560MHz.
