406MHz ELT TESTER is designed to check the avionics emergency locator transmitters (ELT) operating via COSPAS-SARSAT system. Tests can be carried out in volume of annual test requirements or in volume of maintenance requirements or for fast check after ELT’s encoding or installation.

 

Tester can receive the messages from any 406 MHz COSPAS-SARSAT beacon transmitting either in test mode or in real alert emergency mode. The signal can be received through the broadcast by means of antenna or the tester can be connected directly by means of cable through a suitable attenuator. Radiated tests in real alert emergency mode should be carried out using screened room (or enclosure) only.

 

This tester can be used for testing of personal locator beacons (ELTs).

 

 

The ELT Tester is designed to decode and display the encoded message from a 406 MHz Cospas-Sarsat Emergency Locator Transmitter. The tester can be connected directly to the ELT or monitored "over the air" using the supplied whip antenna. The tester will decode any 406 MHz aviation protocol for ELT's.

 

A complete measurement solution. Measures all Cospas-Sarsat frequency channels and decodes all Cospas-Sarsat protocols. Measures 406 MHz parameters, 121.5 MHz parameters modulation, and the in-band 406 MHz frequency spectrum. The beacon industry is demanding higher quality from 406 beacons and is implementing more thorough periodic testing. Beacon Testers that only decode the 406 message are not suitable to meet the increasing demands from the industry to ensure the beacons are indeed operating properly. The ELT Tester provides thorough beacon measurement capabilities.

The AVMM ELT-S 406 transmits on all 3 emergency frequencies (121.5/243.0 and 406 MHz). The ELT is manually activated during a crash and transmits the standard swept tone on 121.5 and 243.0 MHz. Every 50 seconds for 440 milliseconds the 406.025 MHz transmitter turns on and transmits an encoded digital message to satellite system. The ELT AVMM ELT-S 406 is programmed with either the aircraft tail number, a serial number or the aircraft operator designator. This operation takes only a few seconds.
