F.A.Q. for EPIRB MP-406 Float Free
Question:
How does EPIRB work?
Answer:
The EPIRB transmits its identifying number on the frequency of 406 mHz. If there is a GPS option in the beacon coordinate data transmission will be performed immediately and the satellite detects the transmitted signal each 50 second (the signal time period is 0,5 seconds). If there’s no GPS option in the beacon the satellite needs to accept about three dispatch of the signal to detect and calculate distress position coordinates. The calculated data will be transmitted to the Coast Guard station or to the other rescue services
